Hugh Grant's allegedly surly red carpet interview with Ashley Graham is defended by Drew Barrymore
Hugh Grant is standing next to Drew Barrymore.
Barrymore is standing up for her "Music and Lyrics" co-star after the British actor received harsh criticism for his viral chat with model Ashley Graham.
During an episode of her talk programme, "The Drew Barrymore Show," Barrymore said, "If you know Hugh, it is his way of loving you."
"Well, he's such a grump and she's so thrown, people say. ....... ......... You expect to receive this endearing movie star, but what you get is a cranky Hugh. And you start to fall for gruff Hugh."
Barrymore cautioned people not to take Grant's sarcastic comments personally and that he was being amusing in his answers.
"I'm telling you, he is being hilarious when he says that. He has no ill will against it at all. Hugh is the genuine person Ashley Graham met on that carpet, "Barrymore kept talking.
The former "Charlie's Angels" star said that it took her some time to get used to Grant's personality during their initial conversation even if she insisted his remarks were unintentional.
"As Ashley Graham probably said on the red carpet, "Who am I dealing with?" Well, no, I love you, I said after that. I desire to adore you. You're preventing me from loving you," "remarked Barrymore.
"I said, "I do love you," as I came to know him. I adore you for who you truly are. He is a humorous, kind person."
The 48-year-old actress' remarks follow Grant's disastrous red carpet interview with Graham at the Oscars.
Grant provided succinct responses during the brief red-carpet interview.
When she asked him if he was happy to see anyone in particular receive an award, he replied, "No one in particular," and when she asked him what he was wearing, he simply remarked, "My suit."
When she asked Graham about his role in the hit movie "Green Onion," he said, "I'm hardly in it, I'm in it for like three seconds." She inquired as to whether he was still enjoying the experience, to which he said, "Nearly," in an effort to keep the conversation moving.
Twitter users immediately criticised his conduct during the interview.
One poster questioned whether Hugh Grant was always such an egotistical d—-. "On the red carpet, he treated Ashley Graham so impolitely, replete with an eye roll. If he is too skilled for his chosen field, perhaps he should stay at home."
